The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Warning for Cochise, Coconino, Gila, Graham, Greenlee, Mohave, Pima, Pinal, and Santa Cruz counties from July 30 - August 2; Yavapai county July 31-August 2. Heat warnings are extended for La Paz, Maricopa and Yuma counties through August 2. Daytime highs are expected to reach up to 121°F. Drink water, limit your time in the heat, and check on neighbors and family members. Visit air-conditioned public spaces like malls, libraries, or community centers to stay cool. One of Arizona’s most important resources are the children that live and play in our state. Over 1.1 million children ages 5 to 18 attend publicly-funded schools for an average of 180 days every year. Many of these children spend additional time in clubs, sports, summer school, and other school-sponsored activities.
